RACE INFO
Expert, Sport and Karl’s Fun Ride

Karl's Kaleidoscope Mountain Bike Race Expert

Our EXPERT ride is a 52.7 miler challenging you at every turn. Start with the same route as the Sport course. After racing through the farms and hitting pavement again turn left onto Bear Creek Rd. for 1.5 miles then turn right onto Crawfish Rd. starting your off road challenge through the Crawfish Trails of Walker Mountain.. the fun begins . You will cross the Appalachian Trail at two points , several creek crossing..flats and down hills to try to make up some time because in the middle of all this there is a monster 4 mile climb reaching more than 4000’ at the top of Walker Mountain . Now test your biking skills on the 2.25 mile downhill…see if you can make it without dismounting. Go back through Crawfish on Davis Path leading you again to Bear Creek Rd. tracing your way back to Hungry Mother State Park where you will enjoy all the Trails that Hungry Mother State Park has to offer and onto the finish line.

Karl's Kaleidoscope Mountain Bike Race Sport

A 27 mile SPORT COURSE is a challenge with an elevation change of over 1100 feet and extremely diverse terrain. Travel to the back side of the Lake Trail and at the boat docks take a right out of the park and onto Mitchell Valley Rd. (Don't miss the alpacas.) A couple of miles on pavement and you will take a sharp left onto a gravel road leading you to possibly your first adventure through rolling Southwest Virginia cow pastures. (Thanks to the Conners and Pratts for allowing us the 1.8 mile short cut through their farms.) When you reach Bear Creek Rd. turn left for 1.5 miles then turn right onto Crawfish Rd starting your off road challenge through the Crawfish Trail , at Davis Path turn left & race your way back to Hungry Mother State Park for the finish .

Karl's Kaleidoscope Mtn Bike Race Karl's Fun Ride
